• The design takes advantage of the site, positioning the building parallel to the slope. The large bulk - gym, natatorium, and two-story locker and exercise rooms - nestle into the hill, while the day-care center, auditorium, administrative space, and entrance are on the uphill side of the site's axis. The pool has clerestory windows overhead, admitting light deep into the building. The roof steps down the hillside, reducing the mass of the space to the neighborhood beyond. Large glass walls give dramatic views to the outdoors.
