The Spink Pavilion at the world-renowned Missouri Botanical Garden has received LEED certification. The historic building which once served as the Garden’s main entry has been renovated to preserve the architectural integrity of the original structure and upgrade the facility for special events.  Floor-to-ceiling glass curtainwall allows visitors to experience views to the Garden, Milles Sculpture Garden, and the world-famous Climatron.

A new three-season awning, new lighting, HVAC systems, the addition of a spacious new bride’s room, and an upgraded video/sound system increase the pavilion’s capacity to host larger groups.  Spink Pavilion has many new design features that showcase the Garden’s commitment to advancing sustainability. According to former president Peter H. Raven, “Mackey Mitchell has designed a skillful adaptation of an area bounded by 150-year-old gate columns that transforms an empty space into a lovely venue for entertaining which is imaginative and pleasing from inside and out.  It presents a beautiful window to the Garden in all seasons.”  The Mackey Mitchell project team includes Steve Emer, Dan Schneider, Merrilee Hertlein, Tom Moore, and Gene Mackey.
