As a tenant of Cupples 9 (Mackey Mitchell’s new home after more than two decades at Union Station’s Power House), we are pleased to learn that Landmarks Association recognized the building with a “Most Enhanced Award.”
Winners are selected based on “the difficulty of the project, its transformational effect on the surrounding area, historical significance, and the project’s power to inspire.” The Koman Group, along with Space Architects and Clayco (contractor) not only saved the building, but created a valuable civic asset. The renovation took advantage of the building’s open floor plans and highlighted original structural elements to create spaces that blend both old and new – a space ideally suited for an architecture firm.
