LEED GOLD!

.

The new student residence hall at Eastern Kentucky University has achieved LEED Gold status. The $17,900,000 project boasts over 20 sustainable features including  automation systems that monitor building operations and utility consumption, and ultra-violet lights that shine on ventilation air to kill viruses and mold in the airstream before they enter the building. Sophisticated mechanical systems, highly-recycled materials, and preservation of healthy mature trees are just a few of EKU’s sustainable design efforts which further transform the way we think about how buildings and communities are designed and constructed. Mackey Mitchell’s design team included Dan Mitchell, Steve Emer, Gwynn Zivic, and Matthew Roeder.  Ross Tarrant was the Architect-of-Record.
