We often have the opportunity to design comfortable “getaway” places for our clients. A St. Louis family purchased 800 acres in central Missouri to create a family project – a place where the extended family could gather and engage in outdoor activities. After creating an 11-acre lake, they envisioned a rustic, yet comfortable family lodge. Designed by Mackey Mitchell architect Tom Moore, the 6,000SF lodge features a large stone fireplace, outdoor deck, playrooms, bunk rooms, and an exercise room. Two additional cabins built in the dense woods are connected by a boardwalk. Bedrooms are placed on the lower level with kitchen areas above to create the feeling of living in a tree-house.
