A new residential community is being planned for Coastal Carolina University. Mackey Mitchell, with Quackenbush Architects, has designed new student housing with 1,270 beds in four buildings. Arranged in a community suite concept, each building includes study and social lounges, a coffee shop, a c-store, multi-purpose room, a res life office, and classrooms.
Located on a heavily wooded site with mature oak and maple trees and two lakes, the buildings create a large green space that can be used for recreational purposes and programmed residential life functions. The 346,000sf LEED Silver-anticipated project is scheduled for completion in 2015.
