MMA Principal Marcus Adrian, AIA, was invited by the American Society of Landscape Architects–Indiana, to give a presentation on “Acoustics in the Landscape.” As a specialist in the topic of sound and sensory input, Adrian’s presentation titled “Dialing Down the Din,” focused on the fundamentals of acoustics as they are experienced both indoors and out. He talked about ways to focus, direct, or block noise in the landscape, and how sound can reinforce or destroy a “sense of place.”
Marcus is a frequent lecturer on topics dealing with acoustics and has authored several articles for the ASHA Leader. (American Speech-Language Hearing Association). Along with delegates from ASHA, he presented at a Congressional Briefing on the State of Classroom Acoustics in America.
