In pursuit of the right career path, Gwynn Zivic, AIA, senior associate and designer at Mackey Mitchell Architects, kept coming back to the idea that architecture was the “umbrella of the design world.” By pursuing architecture, she realized she could explore a wide range of design possibilities, from a city master plan to a house and its furniture.
Gwynn began her studies at the Hammons School of Architecture at Drury University. A recent on-line article by Drury Lane News describes her foray into the world of design and the people and places that inspired her. She mentions being particularly proud of working with the Mackey Mitchell team on several projects, including three new residence halls on the Western Campus at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio; a three-time award-winning student center at the University of Huntsville in Alabama; transformational renovations on projects at Washington University in St. Louis; and a LEED Platinum living/learning center at Colorado University in Boulder. Gwynn has tailored her education to create a balanced lifestyle and is fulfilled by having the opportunity to create spaces that will inspire others on their way to finding an authentic career.
