Working with Whiting Turner Contracting Company, and BGK Architects, Mackey Mitchell designed a new $58.4 million community to create a setting of landscaped courtyards animated by public art. The team’s use of creative building technologies and work sequencing resulted in a mixed-use village planned to complement the university’s distinctive Spanish Renaissance architecture, accomplished within a sixteen-month time frame.
Mackey Mitchell principal John Burse will present “Creating a Competitive Community of Choice: Increasing On-Campus Housing Participation at Texas Tech.” As one of MMA’s three presentations (at the upcoming ACUHO-I (Association for College and University Housing Officers-International) national conference, the second talk in MMA@ACUHO X 3 series will focus on how Texas Tech’s new res halls give them a competitive edge in the private marketplace. Representatives Sean P. Duggan from Texas Tech University; and Cyrena Davis from Whiting Turner will participate in the presentation scheduled for Tuesday, June 30 (Block 9) from 10:15 to 11:15 am.
