A family-oriented private club that offers a premiere golf course to members and guests, Old Warson Country Club was established in 1960 and has hosted several major professional and amateur tournaments, including the Ryder Cup in 1971. To secure their future as one of the finest country clubs in the region, members embarked on a campaign of major improvements to coincide with the club's 50th anniversary.
Shape
Mackey Mitchell was engaged in two significant project upgrades. The first, completed in 2003, included replacement of the swimming pool with pavilions for equipment and changing rooms, snack bar, golf shop and tennis building. Working within tight site constraints, the pool was increased in size and included additional seating/lounge areas. the snack bar and golf shop were integrated into one building. Site improvements included additional parking, a new entry road layout with extensive landscaping, and energy-efficient site lighting. The second project was completed in 2008 and included an extensive renovation and expansion of the men's and women's locker rooms, the 19th hole and casual dining. To resolve challenging circulation patterns, an entry court/terrace was created for women, and provisions were made for an expanded two-level men's locker room with an interior stair.
Inspire
Over the years, Mackey Mitchell has been instrumental in reinvigorating the club with several renovations and additions while maintaining its original character and style. By incorporating elements from the Georgian-inspired main clubhouse, the new additions blend seamlessly with the original buildings.
The renovated pool is a masterpiece with great design and aesthetics.
